Leathergoods and Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB), in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), successfully conducted Orientation program on Social Compliance and Productivity Industry preparedness Program (IPP) on October 09, 2025, at Hotel Lake Castle, Dhaka.
The orientation program convened with 28 member factories in attendance. The session focused on aligning all stakeholders on IPP project’s core goals, objectives, and planned activities to ensure seamless implementation. Out of 28 factories, 5 factories are opting for BSCI, 10 for Sedex, and 13 for ISO-45001certification. To facilitate this journey, the project has strategically selected third-party verification firms for final verification. Participants were also informed of complementary training opportunities arranged by BIDA, as well as upcoming project sessions designed to address social compliance gaps for mid-level management and workers. The program further fostered a collaborative environment through the sharing of best practices and a constructive dialogue, laying a strong foundation for systemic improvement across the sector.
The Secretary General of LFMEAB and Ms. Linnéa Strand, Technical Officer-Decent Work in Supply Chains Labour Administration and Working Conditions of ILO Country Office attended the orientation session, where they shared valuable insights and fostered a collaborative environment through the sharing of best practices and a constructive dialogue, laying a strong foundation for systemic improvement across the sector.
