Analysis of the sectoral export performance for 4 months of 2022 & current FY 2021-22 July-April
Summary
- In 2022, in 4 months: Jan-April, total sectoral (leather, leather products, and non-leather footwear) export is 603.88 USDM whereas it was 421.22 USDM in 2021, with 43.36% export growth in 4 months of 2022.
- In 2022, in 4 months: Jan-April, in terms of only non-leather footwear export, the total export is 162.07 USDM, which was 106.41 USDM in 2021, with export earnings up by over 52%; and the export share of only non-leather footwear is almost 27% of total sectoral export in 4 months of 2022.
- Export performance of leather, leather products, and footwear for the current FY 2021-22 July-April (10 months) has crossed the 1011.77 USDM (1 billion+) threshold once again with; sectoral export growth of almost 33% over the previous FY 2020-21 July-June.
- In the current FY 2021-22 July-April (10 months), in terms of non-leather footwear, it exported 277.86 USDM with export growth of almost 35% over the previous FY 2020-21 July-June.
- Export performance of total sectoral (leather, leather products, and non-leather footwear) export performance for the current FY 2021-22 July-April (10 months) recorded 1,289.63 USDM.
- With the continuing current trend in the rest two months of FY 2021-22, total sectoral (leather, leather products, and non-leather footwear) export performance is likely to reach 1,547.556 USDM new threshold!
Analysis of the sectoral export performance of 2021 over 2020
Summary
- In 2020 (12 months), total sectoral (leather & leather Products: 41-43 & 6403) export was $6 USDM whereas it was $963.31 USDM in 2019, with 16% negative export growth.
- Hence, export of Leather (Chapter 41) recorded $96.63 USDM in 2020, which was $139.86 USDM in 2019 with almost 31% yearly export down. In 2020, export share of leather is 12% of total sectoral export in 2020.
- In 2020, total export of leather products (42-43) & leather footwear combined was $705.02 USDM which was $823.45 USDM in 2019, with yearly export earnings fall by 14% (Figure 2).
- In terms of only leather footwear export in 2020, total export was $479.41 USDM, which was $566.54 USDM in 2019, with yearly export earnings fall by 15%. In 2020, highest monthly export recorded in July with $59.67 USDM while lowest monthly export was $7.2 USDM in April due to downtown businesses hard hit of Covid -19 (Figure 1).
- In terms of only leather products export in 2020, total export was $225.54 USDM, which was $256.91 USDM in 2019, with yearly export earnings fall by 12%. In 2020, highest monthly export recorded in October with $31.19 USDM while lowest monthly export was $3.64 USDM in April due to downtown businesses hard hit of Covid -19 (Figure 1).
