According to preliminary calculations, the UN Committee for Development Policy (CDP) has declared Bangladesh to have been eligible to be graduated from the LCD group. Meanwhile, Bangladesh has already met at least two of the three criteria which are Per Capita GNI, Human Asset Index (HAI) and Economic Vulnerability Index (EVI). In this regard, UN certificate conveying the announcement on Bangladesh’s graduation from the LCD group to a developing country is going be handed over to the Prime Minister at a program at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre to be held on Thursday, 22nd March 2018.

As part of nationwide celebrations of Bangladesh’s graduation from the LCD group from 23-25 March 2018, LFMEAB has taken special programmes to be observed from 22-23 March 2018. Bangladesh Television, BTV World, Independent TV, and ATN Bangla among others will telecast 3 minutes audio visual highlighting role of leather, leathergoods, and footwear export industry in export diversification, employment generation, and overall economic development that eventually contributed in Bangladesh’s graduation from the LCD group. Furthermore, LFMEAB will display banners and festoons to highlight the successes of industry, initiatives and forward-looking strategies of the present government which yielded rapid sectoral transformation. Besides, LFMEAB will participate in LDC Graduation Celebration Rally on Thursday, 22 March 2018 organized by Ministry of Commerce.
