A team of delegates from the Leathergoods& Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh, led by Mr. Syed Nasim Manzur, met the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office yesterday to convey their condolences and extend all out support from the organization to the victims of the Savar tragedy.
The delegates conveyed their deepest appreciation for the earnest efforts rescue workers and the timely response from the state in ensuring proper medical and logistical support to the victims. Mr. Manzur also requested the Prime Minister to ensure that those who are responsible for this grievous tragedy are quickly apprehended and held accountable in the Court of Law.
To aid the medical treatment of the thousands left impaired by the tragedy, the delegates handed over a cheque of BDT 50 Lacs to the Prime Minister and pledged to employ 1,000 workers from the Savar tragedy into the leather sector. Mr. Manzur was accompanied by Mr. Nazmul Hossain Sohail (Sr. Vice President,LFMEAB ), Mr. Saiful Islam (Advisor, LFMEAB), Mr. Afzalur Rahman Babu (Vice President, LFMEAB), Mr. Mahbub Patwary, (Vice President LFMEAB) and Mrs. Kazi Roushan Ara Shumi, (Executive Director, LFMEAB).
Mr. Manzur hoped that the government will take the necessary steps to restore law and order situation and allow the firms to resume their regular operations in the industrial area.
