Leathergoods & Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) is set to celebrate the International Women’s Day 2015 on 8th March 2015 with the association of International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) upholding the this year’s official United Nations theme “Empowering Women – Empowering Humanity: Picture It!”. International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in Bangladesh leather and footwear sector. As part of the celebration, LFMEAB is going to participate on stall display with poster, leaflets, research papers, women’s leather goods and footwear on the premises of icddr,b. We take this day to celebrate and acknowledge the contribution of women focusing on women professionals, entrepreneurs, leaders, and trade labors.
To this end, LFMEAB will emphasize how gender equality, empowerment of women, and women’s full enjoyment of human rights are essential to economic and social development. It will also address the gaps that still remain in making gender equality a reality.
