Under the initiative- support for the development of the value added leather products (footwear and leather goods) clusters and value chain- Leathergoods & Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) arranged a day-long workshop regarding “Retailing & Merchandising” for Shoe Business at Bangladesh Paduka Prostutkarok Somiti (BPPS), Bakshi Bazar, Dhaka.
Mr. A A MD Arfanul Hoque, Merchandising Manager of Bata Shoe Company Limited has facilitated the workshop. More than 40 Directors and Managers from medium and small companies from different leather & footwear factories received comprehensive training regarding Retailing & Merchandising.
Participants learned a mix of theory and hands-on experiences throughout the session. Training started with a theory session covering merchandising process & Shoe economics (Profit Generating Tool) and holiday promotions — carefully balancing when to release pricing and specials, and knowing that customers are holding out for last-minute deals and price drops along with highlighting why Retail Merchandising is important for business promotion.
In the practical session, topics such as effective merchandising, tactics in detail-focused, digital merchandising, customer demographics & psychographics, describing brand, & brand benefit, core brand characteristics, design a store environment, visual merchandising and best practices & innovative strategies to boost sales were delivered.
Participants also received some great insight in to what’s top of mind for retailers during the most stressful business time of the year. In the end, facilitator highlighted some successful case studies from leading retailers, industry experts.
