Leathergoods And Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (LFMEAB) in collaboration with the Business Promotion Council (BPC) under the Ministry of Commerce organized a 5-day training on “Pattern Engineering of Footwear Manufacturing” from May 20-24 May, 2023 to develop and upskill the pattern designers in the leather products and footwear sector.
The training has taken place at the Centre of Excellence for Leather Skill Bangladesh Limited (COEL) at Gazipur, Dhaka. The goal of the training is to ensure quality assurance, create material optimization and manufacturing efficiency. Mr. Md. Abdur Rahim Khan; Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Coordinator, Business Promotion Council (BPC) inaugurated the training on Saturday, 20th May 2023 while Mr. Syed Nasim Manzur, President of LFMEAB presided over the inauguration session.
Major Md Rafiqul Islam (Retd), Secretary General of LFMEAB was present along with other industry experts during the inauguration ceremony. Mr. Prashanta Kumar Nanda, an international trainer from Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), India is conducting the training. Twenty-seven pattern engineers from 19 LFMEAB member factories are taking part in the training.
During the inauguration, distinguished speakers put emphasis on the urgency of learning and developing pattern designing in order to minimize waste and maximize quality standards that eventually make the respective factories competitive to attract more global customers.
